F1 Standings 2025: Mercedes Revival Sparks Debate Over Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Move

The 2025 Formula 1 season has taken an intriguing twist as Mercedes appears to be staging a significant comeback, reigniting discussions about Lewis Hamilton’s high-profile switch to Ferrari. With the Silver Arrows showing renewed competitiveness and steadily climbing the Constructors’ Championship standings, questions are being raised about whether Hamilton may already be regretting his decision to leave the team he called home for over a decade.

Mercedes’ recent run of form  including a string of podium finishes and improved race pace  has seen them close the gap to Red Bull and McLaren in the championship fight. George Russell, now leading the team, has praised the technical team for making rapid strides with their 2025 challenger, a car that has finally found the balance and reliability that eluded them in previous seasons.

In contrast, Ferrari has struggled with consistency despite moments of brilliance. Hamilton, who joined the Scuderia with hopes of chasing a record-breaking eighth world title, has endured mixed results, including strategic errors and reliability woes. As Ferrari slips further behind in the Constructors’ standings, speculation is growing over whether the move has paid off.

The debate now centers around whether Hamilton, 40, might have stayed better placed to challenge for a title had he remained with Mercedes. Critics and fans alike are questioning the timing of his switch, especially as Mercedes now seems to be unlocking the potential that Hamilton had long waited for.

With half the season still to go, the title fight is far from over but the narrative surrounding Hamilton’s transfer and Mercedes’ resurgence will remain one of the key storylines of 2025.
