George Russell responds to the FIA’s decision to deprive him of his race win.

There has been a lot to talk about in Formula One since the Canadian Grand Prix. From the aftermath of the McLaren titans battle to the contentious nature of George Russell’s triumph. After the Brit held off Max Verstappen to claim the victory in Montreal, it was revealed that Red Bull had filed two protests against Russell. They believed he drove wildly from the front to prevent Verstappen from passing, as well as protesting about his ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’ on the radio.

A letter certifying the outcome was then issued, which stated: “We accept the driver of Car 63’s [Russell’s] explanation of the incident and are satisfied that the driver of Car 63 did not drive erratically by braking where he did or to the extent he did.” “We are not satisfied that simply reporting to his team that Car 1 [Verstappen] had overtaken constituted unsportsmanlike conduct.” Even though the protest did not state it, we are persuaded that the driver of Car 63 did not engage in unsportsmanlike behavior by braking where, when, and to the amount he did.”

Russell hits out at Red Bull for protests

Russell has labelled Red Bull’s two protests as a ‘waste of everybody’s time’ after it meant that some McLaren staff missed their flights home due to the hearing.

Red Bull’s Christian Horner thought Russell was driving ‘erratically’ behind the safety car and braking ‘unnecessarily’ on the back straight between circuits 12 and 13. He also thought it was ‘unsporting’ for Russell to whine over his team radio about being passed by Verstappen.

“Max [Verstappen] didn’t know there was a protest even going on,” he stated. “So I’m not sure what was going on or what they were thinking.” I’m pleased nothing occurred, either way. “It was really a waste of everyone’s time. Shov [Andrew Shovlin] and Ron [Meadows], who work on the team, both missed their flights last night, so it was a bit of a hassle for everyone. But it’s over now. “Eyes forward.”
