Lando Norris warns of McLaren’s ‘downward spiral’ risk in Oscar Piastri clash.
Lando Norris has admitted to being concerned about McLaren entering a “downward spiral” in his F1 title duel with Oscar Piastri. Piastri now leads Norris in the Formula One standings by 22 points. The Australian’s lead was extended in Canada last time out, when Norris was forced to withdraw after colliding with the rear of his teammate’s car late in the race. While also chasing their first crowns, they are driving McLaren to back-to-back constructors’ championships after seven wins in the first ten races.
Norris praised the two’s good working connection ahead of their fight in Montreal. “I think we work very well as team-mates,” Norris told RacingNews365. “I believe we contributed significantly to the team’s success. “There have been several cases of things not going as planned and teams falling apart. “That is obviously something we want to prevent as a team, and it is our top goal. But it’s hard to say.
Norris – harder times ahead Norris admitted to being at fault for the collision in Montreal, which marked the first clash between the British driver and Piastri.
The Briton said there would be “tougher moments” as the title fight heated up later in the campaign. “I’ve always got on with my team-mates, because that’s something I’ve always wanted to do,” he told me.
“Of course, there’s not even a question; I want to beat them, and I’ll do everything it takes to beat anyone, including my teammate. “But it doesn’t mean we can’t both laugh at the same joke. “We’re getting along now, but there will be rough times ahead. There’s no point in guessing what they’ll be.”
