BREAKING: Red Bull Told to Ditch Pérez,F1 Champion Named As Ver…See More

Max Verstappen Needs a Champion Beside Him – Can Red Bull Make the Bold Call?

Max Verstappen has been almost untouchable in Formula 1 over the past couple of years, but one thing has become painfully clear — he’s doing a lot of the heavy lifting on his own at Red Bull. While the Dutchman racks up win after win, the other side of the garage has been struggling to keep up. And now, some within the sport believe the solution is simple: Verstappen needs a champion-level teammate.

Sergio Pérez has played the supporting role since joining Red Bull in 2021, and at times he’s delivered — think street circuit wins and clever defensive drives. But lately, the consistency just hasn’t been there. When Verstappen is out front, Pérez is often battling in the midfield. For a team used to total dominance, that’s a problem.

Former world champion Damon Hill recently voiced what many fans have been whispering: Verstappen can’t do it all alone. “You can’t rely on one driver to carry the entire team,” Hill said. “Red Bull need someone who can share the load — another world-class driver.”

The suggestion is bold. Imagine Verstappen lining up alongside Fernando Alonso, or even Lewis Hamilton. It’s the sort of blockbuster pairing that would light up the sport — two giants pushing each other to the limit. But it would also risk upsetting the harmony at Red Bull. Verstappen has had the team built around him, with no teammate since Daniel Ricciardo really pushing him week in, week out. Would Red Bull dare bring in another big dog to challenge their star?

Christian Horner, as always, is backing Pérez in public. The team boss insists Checo still plays a valuable role, and he’s right to an extent. But rivals are closing fast. Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes have all found fresh momentum, and the constructors’ championship no longer feels like a guaranteed Red Bull walkover.

So the question lingers: should Red Bull stick with the safe option, or take the gamble on pairing Verstappen with another champion? It could be fiery. It could be messy. But it could also be the spark the team needs to keep its dynasty alive.

For now, Verstappen keeps carrying the fight almost singlehandedly. But even the best driver in the world can’t win a constructors’ title on his own.
