Formula 1 Exhibition Set to Arrive in Oberhausen on European Tour

The Formula 1 Exhibition will soon make its way to Germany, with the city of Oberhausen confirmed as the next stop on its ongoing European tour. The showcase, which has already drawn huge crowds in Madrid, Vienna, Toronto, London, Buenos Aires, and Amsterdam, will officially open its doors to fans on 22 October 2025.

Located in the Ruhr area, Oberhausen is well known for its cultural vibrancy, boasting a mix of industrial heritage, theatres, museums, and festivals. The city now adds another highlight to its list of attractions, as it prepares to host an event that promises motorsport enthusiasts an in-depth and immersive look at the world of Formula 1.

The exhibition is designed to provide a journey through the history and evolution of F1, blending rare visual, audio, and photographic materials with authentic memorabilia and innovative interactive technology. Visitors can expect a 90-minute experience filled with exclusive insights, unseen artefacts, and cutting-edge displays that highlight both the drama and the innovation behind the sport.

One of the major draws of the Oberhausen exhibition will be a dedicated German room, which pays tribute to the country’s profound influence on Formula 1. This section will revisit iconic moments from historic circuits such as the Nürburgring and Hockenheim, while also celebrating the impact of German constructors, particularly Mercedes. The space will shine a light on German drivers who have left a lasting legacy on the sport, including World Champions Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, and Nico Rosberg, as well as current F1 competitor Nico Hülkenberg. German women in motorsport will also receive recognition, emphasizing the nation’s broader contributions to racing.

The journey begins with Once Upon A Time in Formula 1, a gallery featuring never-before-seen photos, video footage, and personal interviews. This opening section sets the stage by revisiting defining milestones and legendary moments in F1 history. From there, visitors can move into The Design Lab, which offers a rare glimpse into how F1 teams design and develop their cars, giving insight into the engineering and creativity that drive competition.

Another section, Drivers and Duels, highlights some of the sport’s greatest rivalries and legendary personalities since the championship’s inception in 1950. Revolution by Design then focuses on the technical breakthroughs that have shaped the sport, showcasing how constant innovation has been key to Formula 1’s evolution.

The exhibition also addresses the dangers of the sport in Survival, an area dedicated to safety and resilience. This section includes the wreckage of Romain Grosjean’s Haas from his harrowing 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix crash, alongside exclusive video interviews and content detailing his escape.

The experience concludes with Pit Wall, an immersive multimedia installation that brings to life some of the most unforgettable and dramatic moments in F1 history, ensuring visitors leave on a high note.

Formula 1’s Chief Commercial Officer Emily Prazer said the decision to bring the event to Germany was a natural one: “Germany has been central to Formula 1’s story with iconic tracks and incredible champions. We are thrilled to bring this experience to German fans so they can explore the sport’s history in depth.”

Jonathan Linden, Co-CEO of Round Room Live, added: “Germany’s tradition in motorsport is unmatched, with legendary drivers and tracks that have shaped F1. Oberhausen is a perfect location for the next stage of our European tour.”

Meanwhile, Folkert Koopmans, CEO of FKP Scorpio Entertainment, emphasized the event’s wide appeal: “The Formula 1 Exhibition combines top-level sporting history with captivating storytelling and technology. Visitors can expect a unique, dramatic, and inspiring experience.”

With its blend of heritage, innovation, and interactive storytelling, the Oberhausen edition of the Formula 1 Exhibition is set to be one of the year’s most anticipated motorsport events in Europe.
