Hunter Wohler, a safety, was anticipated to shine and indeed brought high energy to the field during spring workouts, emerging as perhaps the standout defensive player.
Following an impressive 2023 campaign where he racked up 120 tackles, six pass breakups, and two interceptions, Wohler continued to impress during spring practices, demonstrating a relentless physical presence.
While formal tackling wasn’t emphasized, Wohler consistently positioned himself effectively within the top-tier defense, showcasing an innate ability to locate the ball, a quality highly prized by the coaching staff heading into the upcoming season.
Speaking about Wohler, safeties coach Alex Grinch commended his keen understanding of field dynamics, noting his exceptional spatial awareness as a safety. Grinch highlighted Wohler’s versatility, emphasizing the challenge of deploying him strategically across various defensive roles, from post coverage to man marking.
