Report: Celtic to… Forward Deal

Celtic’s summer transfer activity remains captivating as they shift their focus from Norwich City’s Adam Idah to Hearts’ prolific scorer Lawrence Shankland. After their £4 million offer for Idah was rejected, with Norwich valuing him at around twice that amount, Celtic is exploring alternatives. The new Norwich coach, Johannes Hoff Thorup, is keen to assess Idah during pre-season, potentially causing delays in any transfer.

According to HITC, “Celtic are exploring other options to Norwich City striker Adam Idah, potentially hijacking Rangers’ move for Hearts frontman Lawrence Shankland.” This highlights the unpredictable nature of the transfer market, where timing and opportunities often dictate outcomes.

Shankland’s impressive record bolsters his appeal. Last season, he secured the Scottish Premiership Golden Boot and Player of the Year awards, scoring 31 goals in all competitions, and totaling 59 goals over two seasons at Hearts. His contract at Tynecastle, which expires in 2025, makes him a potentially more affordable and feasible target for Celtic compared to Idah.

The transfer saga becomes even more intriguing with Rangers currently leading the race for Shankland. However, Celtic’s interest could turn this into a classic Old Firm battle. Shankland, a Glasgow native, might find the prospect of staying in his hometown with a top club, and the chance to play Champions League football, very tempting.

Signing Shankland could be a strategic move for Celtic, enhancing their attacking options and preventing a rival from gaining a key player.

EPL Index Analysis suggests that acquiring Shankland could be a significant coup for Celtic. His impressive goal-scoring record promises excitement at Parkhead, and the possibility of outmaneuvering Rangers adds drama to the transfer. Shankland’s ability to score crucial goals aligns well with Celtic’s ambitions, potentially shifting the balance of power in the Scottish Premiership if he continues his scoring feats in the gree.
