A Cowboys player says he has a big game “coming” for him.

The Dallas Cowboys made the decision to let go of veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott during the summer in order to give Tony Pollard the chance to start on a regular basis in their offensive backfield.

Although Pollard has seen more touches this season, the Cowboys running back hasn’t produced more on the field as a result.

Pollard has ended with fewer than 65 total yards in three of his last four games, and he hasn’t scored a touchdown since Dallas’ Week 1 victory against the New York Giants.

The Cowboys’ top running back expressed his optimism for a great performance in the near future during a Wednesday interview with local media (via The Athletic’s Jon Machota on Twitter).

When he and Elliott shared the carries in the backfield last season, Pollard managed to rush for 1,007 yards and nine touchdowns on 193 attempts (5.2 yards per carry on average), as well as catch 39 passes for 371 yards and three more scores.

He is on track to nearly treble his career single-season highs in touches, but he is also on track to finish with just 81 more total yards than he did in the 2022 campaign.

Pollard’s first opportunity to have that big game that he says is coming will be on the road in a tough Week 9 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Though anything can happen, it appears that Pollard will have to wait at least one more week to have that huge game against an Eagles defense that has limited its opponents to less than 100 running yards in seven of their eight games this season.
