A player for Manchester United received successful surgery
The news that Lisandro Martinez will require more surgery for a foot problem that has bothered him since last season struck Manchester United Football Club a severe blow over the weekend. Martinez would be out of action for the next three months.
The Argentina center back continued to experience the issue despite starting the season, having experienced it against Sevilla in the Europa League. The best line of action has now been decided to be another surgery.
Late Friday night, journalist Gaston Edul gave an update on that front on Twitter. Martinez is currently recovering thanks to a successful procedure. He will not, as anticipated, participate in this year’s World Cup for Argentina.
It’s now a race against time for Licha to get back in shape while making sure the issue is entirely resolved before he rejoins the first team. The situation is delicately balanced.
Ten Hag won’t want the problem to come up again because Martinez would then be out for the entire season. Yes, it will be much harder without him on the field, but considering the long-term objectives, this is the smartest move at this time.
