A senior call-up is anticipated for the Everton star.
Jarrad Branthwaite is “brilliant,” and England Under-21 manager Lee Carsley believes he’s headed toward a senior call-up eventually.
Later this month, the Cumbrian defender will play in his most recent Under-21 matches.
And if he keeps up his club form, head coach Carsley thinks Everton’s former Carlisle United player may continue on his path to full international recognition.
After waiting patiently for his opportunity during the summer’s European Championships, Branthwaite is currently the Under-21 team’s first-choice defender.
He deserves the opportunities he’s getting and here is his place because of the way he practiced every day and interacted with the surroundings, Carsley added.
“Hopefully, he continues to play well for Everton, the Under-21 team, and himself as a member of the senior squad.”
During the Premier League season, Branthwaite has established himself as a mainstay in Sean Dyche’s Everton defense.
After a run of outstanding performances, some pundits had the 21-year-old in line for a full England call-up.
He will have the opportunity to increase his U21 cap in the interim when they play in Euro qualifiers at Goodison Park on November 18 against Serbia and again on November 19 against Northern Ireland.
Speaking to the reporters at Goodison Park, Carsley discussed how the Wigton star had profited from his loan at PSV Eindhoven the previous season.
Carsley continued, Young players have different stages and different phases in how they develop, and Jarrad is demonstrating that maturity.
He has proven to be a highly coachable and adaptive player, which is quite valuable, and he has been an excellent addition to the under-21 team.
It’s critical that we recognize that he’s still a young player, a terrific defender, and things are going well for him. However, at a certain point, when things aren’t going as planned, he will require assistance so that we don’t lose sight of a player with a lot of potential who is performing admirably.
James Trafford, the Burnley goalkeeper, and Liam Delap, the striker and son of former Carlisle United star Rory, are Cumbrians who both play for the Cumbrian team that includes Branthwaite on its roster.
