Regarding the NFL’s restriction on hip-drop tackles, Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh makes a forceful remark.

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh has voiced his support for the recent NFL decision to outlaw the swivel hip-drop tackle, despite pushback from players. The ban, unanimously agreed upon by NFL owners at their annual meeting, imposes a 15-yard penalty on any player found employing this now-forbidden technique during a game. However, Troy Vincent, the NFL’s executive vice president of football operations, suggested that enforcement might entail post-game warnings and fines rather than immediate in-game penalties.

Harbaugh has been a proponent of this ban since one of his key players, tight end Mark Andrews, sustained an injury from such a tackle during a match against the Cincinnati Bengals. In the incident, Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson had initially engaged with Andrews but then executed the swivel hip-drop, causing Andrews to fall awkwardly onto his knees.
