Louisville-transfer Tre White pledges to the University of Illinois

Tre White, who previously played for Louisville, has committed to Illinois. The 6-foot-7, 205-pound sophomore had an impressive season with the Cardinals, averaging 12.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.3 assists while starting in 26 games and shooting 45.6% from the field.

White’s decision to transfer follows the departure of head coach Kenny Payne, contributing to a significant number of players leaving Louisville.

During his time at Louisville, White emerged as a key contributor, ranking fourth in scoring and second in rebounding during his first season with the team. He showcased his talent with notable performances, including a career-high 29 points and 14 rebounds against Clemson, achieving over 20 points in four games. Additionally, White recorded four double-doubles throughout the season, establishing himself as one of the top forwards in the transfer portal.

His commitment to Illinois marks the second transfer for Brad Underwood and his coaching staff, following the acquisition of Mercer transfer Jake Davis.
