The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office in Florida issued an arrest warrant for Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton on Wednesday morning. It states that he is wanted for “Aggravated Battery-Domestic Violence” and that “he may be driving a Jeep Grand Wagoneer with a license plate number of FL-AZ33QB.”

Through a Hillsborough County public information officer, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press verified that the Lions cornerback is the subject of the warrant. The warrant for Sutton’s arrest was released after numerous attempts to get in touch with him failed, according to Justin Rogers of the Detroit News. The warrant is related to an incident that occurred on March 7.

In the previous offseason, Sutton inked a $33 million, three-year contract with the Lions. This announcement comes days after his whole $10.5 million basic contract for 2024 became fully guaranteed. He had a terrible first season in Detroit. His contract’s terms guaranteed that he wouldn’t be leaving this offseason.

A warrant for Cameron Sutton’s arrest has been issued for the Lions.
Phil Martello, the assistant assistant chief of communications for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, provided additional information in a statement via Rogers.

What we can say, and what our deputies feel comfortable with, is that this happened on March 7th; we received a call at 4:35 in the morning, according to assistant chief communications officer Phil Martello, who spoke with the Detroit News. “It was a domestic violence (call) and we’re not comfortable to really say who (the victim) is.”

“We made an effort to get in touch with Sutton,” stated Martello. “After calling, he didn’t respond. He has avoided us. Here, our deputies have followed every possible lead. He has a house and a few cars in the county across from us, but we haven’t been able to find him there. Thus, once more, it appears that he has either turned off or discarded his

We haven’t been able to contact him, so he may have turned off or disposed of his phone.”

As more information becomes available, we’ll update this story. The Lions haven’t responded to this situation or released a statement.
