Barcelona is most interested in signing the Everton midfielder.

Amadou Onana of Everton is one of the midfielders that Barcelona is most interested in signing to screen their defense in preparation for the upcoming campaign. Although it appears that the former Lille lynchpin is above their budget, Barcelona President Joan Lapora has stated that the team would not be working with tighter salary cap limits come summertime.

The 22-year-old Belgian has been a standout player at Everton under Sean Dyche, drawing praise from onlookers everywhere he goes this season. Manchester United is rumored to be interested as well because Casemiro, partly because of injuries, has not filled the voids at Old Trafford to the satisfaction of the fans. Although Footmercato claims he is worth €55 million, other Premier League heavyweights might very well enter the race if he keeps performing at this caliber.

Barcelona is starting to get things together early. They claim that Barcelona and Onana’s team had met to talk about a transfer. Although the Catalan side is rumored to be quite keen, a move will undoubtedly depend on their resources.

Onana fits the type that Sporting Director Deco is targeting, and their interest in him was first mentioned in early December. In order to keep Barcelona from being overextended, the former Porto player supposedly wants a more robust midfielder who can move up and down the field.
