The club declared the six-week-old procedure completely successfully on Wednesday.

Kenwright, however, needed a “prolonged period in an intensive care unit” due to problems.

“He has returned home to continue his recovery which is expected to be lengthy, but complete,” the club stated.

Farhad Moshiri, the owner of Everton, decided to sell his 94% ownership to American investment firm 777 Partners in September.

The organization said that Kenwright, 78, “worked hard” with Moshiri “right up until the day of the procedure” to assist with the attempted takeover.

Last season, Toffees supporters protested before a few of their home games and demanded that Moshiri and the board leave the organization.

Denise Barrett-Baxendale is still serving as chairman, although Grant Ingles, the chief financial and strategic officer, and non-executive director Graeme Sharp have all departed their positions on the board of directors.

“Mr Kenwright has always been fiercely protective of his private life and is grateful that his privacy has been respected during this difficult time,” Everton said.
