BLADES new coach SILLY MISTAKE may cost him his job and….
Ben Brereton Díaz of Sheffield United was left off the roster by Chilean manager Ricardo Gareca, which caused a small controversy last week.
The youngster, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent, was advised to study Spanish to improve his prospects of being called up, according to the coach, who insisted that the decision was more than just a technical one.
Well, according to La Tercera, even the Chilean media was taken aback by Sheffield United’s recent announcement that Brereton Díaz will be joining the national team.
They present it as though the Blades were the first to announce the call-up, rather than displaying La Roja’s official statement confirming the striker’s call-up.
It remains to be seen if Gareca decided against making the announcement in case he wants to avoid creating too much of a stir in the wake of his previous remarks.
Brereton Díaz is only being called up since Chile has lost four players since their formal call-up due to injuries.
The Sheffield United player may want to study Spanish Duolingo a little more before the Copa América in an effort to convince Gareca that he merits a spot in the team this is becauase he is needed in the squad.
