Celtic are close to finalizing a £9.5 million deal for Norwich City striker Adam Idah, making him the most expensive signing in the club’s history. This brings their summer spending to £14 million, which includes the signings of Viljami Sinisalo and Paulo Bernardo, along with Kasper Schmeichel on a free transfer. To offset this spending, Celtic are expected to offload several players before the transfer window closes on August 30.
Gustaf Lagerbielke, a Swedish defender, is among those likely to depart, having rejected a return to Sweden with Malmo and reportedly attracting interest from English Championship clubs. Maik Nawrocki, another center-back who struggled with injuries last season, is also on the transfer list, with Celtic open to loan or permanent offers.
Japanese defender Yuki Kobayashi has not played under Brendan Rodgers and is linked with a return to the J1 League. Stephen Welsh, currently a backup, could move if Celtic strengthen their defense. Kwon Hyeok-kyu is set to join Hibs on loan after failing to break into the first team.
Liam Shaw, who has had multiple loan spells, is expected to return to England. Daniel Kelly, a promising young midfielder, is likely to leave after rejecting a new contract, with Millwall interested.
Norwegian playmaker Odin Thiago Holm might be loaned out despite his potential, while Matt O’Riley, who has drawn interest from clubs like Atalanta and Chelsea, could still be sold if the price is right.
Mikey Johnston, whose career has been hindered by injuries, might seek a fresh start, with West Brom showing previous interest. Finally, Yang Hyun-jun, a talented South Korean attacker, may be available for loan or sale, as Celtic look to trim their squad.
