Celtic are actively seeking to finalize several transfers before the current window closes, with Norwich striker Adam Idah likely to be their first major acquisition. Idah, who spent last season on loan at Celtic, appears to be on the verge of returning to the club permanently. Celtic have reportedly agreed on a transfer fee of around Β£8.5 million, with an additional Β£1 million in potential add-ons and a sell-on clause. The Irish forward was expected to arrive in Glasgow soon for a medical, with an official announcement anticipated imminently.

The addition of Idah would bolster Celtic’s attacking options, but it essentially returns the club to the same position as last season in terms of outfield players. So far this summer, Celtic have only brought in goalkeepers Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo, as well as Paulo Bernardo, another former loanee. Manager Brendan Rodgers, however, has expressed a desire for more quality signings, indicating last week that he was hopeful of securing “one or two others” beyond Idah. Rodgers is believed to be targeting reinforcements at left-back, centre-back, and possibly in midfield and attack.

In other transfer news, Celtic have reportedly rejected a fifth bid from Serie A club Atalanta for midfielder Matt O’Riley. Atalanta’s latest offer, said to be in excess of Β£20 million, still falls short of Celtic’s valuation, which is believed to be over Β£25 million. The Italian side remains persistent in their pursuit of the 23-year-old, but Celtic appear determined to hold onto one of their key players unless their asking price is met.

Regarding potential signings at left-back, recent reports had linked Celtic with a move for Palermo’s Kristoffer Lund. However, Football Scotland has clarified that Palermo has no intention of selling the player, and no formal approach has been made by Celtic.

Meanwhile, young midfielder Daniel Kelly seems to be heading to Millwall, with reports suggesting that the English Championship club has won the race for his signature. Kelly has been in a contract standoff with Celtic, and it has long been expected that he would leave the club. Although Tottenham and Bayer Leverkusen were previously linked with the 17-year-old, it now appears that his future lies in London when his contract expires in December.

Celtic’s defensive situation remains uncertain, with Swedish defender Gustaf Lagerbielke and Polish center-back Maik Nawrocki both facing uncertain futures at the club. Lagerbielke has been out of favor at Celtic Park and is reportedly keen on a move away, although he recently rejected an approach from Malmo. Clubs in the English Championship and other Scandinavian teams have also shown interest in the player. Similarly, Nawrocki, who struggled for game time last season, has attracted interest from his former club Legia Warsaw, although their reported Β£1.2 million offer is unlikely to be accepted by Celtic, given that they originally paid Β£4 million for him.

Celtic are also considering potential signings in defense. The club has made inquiries with Liverpool about the availability of left-back Owen Beck. Celtic previously showed interest in Beck during the January transfer window and are now exploring the possibility of a permanent deal. However, Queens Park Rangers (QPR) are also in negotiations with Liverpool for a loan move for the player.

Finally, Celtic have been linked with Peruvian midfielder Renato Tapia, who is currently a free agent after leaving Celta Vigo this summer. The 29-year-old has drawn interest from several clubs, including Union Berlin and Fluminense, but Celtic are reportedly keen to bring him to Glasgow.

Celtic are actively working on several transfer deals as the window draws to a close, with Adam Idah’s return to the club looking increasingly likely. The club is also focused on retaining key players like Matt O’Riley while exploring options to strengthen their squad, particularly in defense. However, several players currently at the club, such as Lagerbielke and Nawrocki, may be on their way out if suitable offers are received.
