Aston Martin driver in SHOCK team switch

Aston Martin Racing talent Jessica Hawkins has made her debut in NASCAR as part of an exciting team development.

Despite a lackluster 2024 Formula 1 season, where Aston Martin dropped to fifth in the constructors’ standings without a single podium finish from drivers Fernando Alonso or Lance Stroll, the team is looking ahead with optimism.

Alonso extended his contract in 2024, and legendary designer Adrian Newey will join the team in 2025, fueling hopes for a resurgence.

The Silverstone-based team also boasts a strong pipeline of young talent.

Felipe Drugovich, the 2022 Formula 2 champion, Jak Crawford, who secured one win and six podiums in F2 in 2024, and Tina Hausmann, an F1 Academy racer backed by Aston Martin, have all shown promise.

Hawkins, a former W Series competitor and Aston Martin’s driver ambassador, has been mentoring Hausmann while serving as the team’s head of F1 Academy.

In addition to her roles, Hawkins recently explored NASCAR, visiting Hendrick Motorsports at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The trip included simulator sessions with four-time NASCAR champion Jeff Gordon before Hawkins took a Chevrolet to the track for her first NASCAR test.

Reflecting on the experience, Hawkins described it as both enjoyable and challenging, noting the adjustments required but emphasizing the value of the simulator in familiarizing her with the braking zones, gear selection, and track layout.

Hawkins previously made history in 2023 as the first female racer in over five years to complete an F1 test, underscoring her growing influence in motorsport.

Her NASCAR outing marks another milestone in her career, showcasing her adaptability and the potential for cross-series success.
