Axed US F1 star SURPRISINGLY gets NEW seat for 2025
Former Formula 1 driver Logan Sargeant has secured a new racing opportunity for the 2025 season following a challenging stint in F1.
The American, who debuted with Williams in 2023 after progressing through Formula 2 and Formula 3, struggled during his rookie campaign.
Despite showing faith in Sargeant for 2024, Williams decided to part ways with him after a significant crash at the Dutch Grand Prix in August, marking the end of his F1 career mid-season.
Determined to continue his racing journey, Sargeant recently tested an IndyCar with Meyer Shank Racing at Thermal.
Now, he has officially been announced as part of IDEC Sport’s lineup for the 2025 European Le Mans Series (ELMS).
He will compete in the LMP2 category, driving the #18 car alongside former IndyNXT driver Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert.
The ELMS, which features six four-hour endurance races on some of Europe’s most demanding circuits, is considered an excellent platform for drivers aiming to progress to higher levels of endurance racing.
It serves as a stepping stone to the FIA World Endurance Championship and the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The competition includes a full grid of 43 cars across four categories: LMP2, LMP2 Pro/Am, LMP3, and LMGT3.
The top teams in each category are rewarded with automatic invitations to the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.
For Sargeant, this new role offers a fresh start and the chance to prove his skills in a competitive endurance racing environment.
Sargeant’s move to the ELMS marks a significant shift in his career trajectory, providing him with a platform to rebuild his reputation and potentially pave the way for future success in endurance racing.
With teammates Chadwick and Jaubert, he will aim to make a strong impact in one of the most respected endurance series in motorsport.
