BREAKING: Cadillac Considers Former Red Bull Driver for F1 2026 S…read more

As Cadillac gears up for its much-anticipated Formula 1 debut in 2026, speculation is mounting over its driver lineup. While the team has remained discreet about specific candidates, Cadillac advisor Mario Andretti recently confirmed that ex-Red Bull driver Sergio Perez is among those being considered.

Perez Among Cadillac’s Potential Choices

Now that Cadillac has secured its place on the F1 grid for 2026, attention has turned to who will take the two available seats. The team has emphasized the need for at least one experienced driver to help ensure a competitive start. Additionally, Cadillac has expressed interest in recruiting an American driver, though finding a candidate with the necessary super license points presents a challenge.

While the team has yet to disclose its final shortlist, Andretti, in an interview with ESPN’s Spanish edition, acknowledged that Cadillac is weighing three experienced drivers. When asked directly about Perez, Andretti confirmed that the Mexican driver is a possibility.

“He’s an option,” Andretti stated. “That could be an option, of course.”

Perez Taking His Time to Decide

With his departure from Red Bull set for 2025, Perez has expressed a deliberate approach to his next move. He has made it clear that he will not rush into any decision just to remain in F1, instead carefully evaluating opportunities while considering the impact on his personal life.

If Cadillac chooses to pursue Perez, it would be a logical decision. With extensive experience driving for teams such as Sauber, McLaren, Force India, Racing Point, and Red Bull, Perez has valuable knowledge that could benefit a new F1 team. His expertise in team operations, car development, and race strategy would be vital for Cadillac’s success.

As Cadillac finalizes its plans for 2026, its search for drivers is expected to intensify. Whether Perez will ultimately join remains uncertain, but Andretti’s comments suggest he is a strong contender.

With the F1 driver market still evolving and key seats yet to be filled for the upcoming seasons, all eyes are on Cadillac to see who they select to lead their ambitious entry into the sport.
