Carlos Sainz lashes out at the media: the Spaniard recently admitted in an interview for the RacingNews365 website that after the Las Vegas Grand Prix, the news against him took over, with many fans turning against the former Ferrari driver. One unforgettable moment was the post-race team radio from Charles Leclerc, where he admitted that his now former teammate had disrespected him for the overtake he made on track.
The Spaniard also confessed that what generates even more hate are the so-called clickbait articles, which aim merely at views, generating poor communication and spreading excessive hate about facts and people. Carlos Sainz would like there to be more attention given to the media, as if used incorrectly, they can hurt and defame people, regardless of whether those people are well-known public figures or not.
“I also believe there is a certain role for the media side… I’m not referring again to any of you, but the way [some areas of the media] can inform can also create clickbait, which can lead to misunderstandings and poor communication, and can make people even more biased or even more toxic,” he explained. “It’s definitely not a healthy place in the world right now, and I’m not a big fan of it, but let’s try, all together, to control or help all these people at home who feel frustrated for one reason or another to not jump to too many superficial conclusions about each other,” Carlos Sainz concluded.
“Social media is a very toxic place. So, I ask the media—not social media—to take responsibility for how you inform and write articles, and inform those less educated or less understanding fans who may be a little more biased, to make sure we help them understand how this sport works, because it’s a place that’s becoming more and more toxic.” – the future Williams driver pointed out.
