Carlos Sainz has expressed his enthusiasm about teaming up with Alex Albon at Williams, as the team principal James Vowles projects that their partnership could form one of the most formidable driver line-ups in Formula 1 by 2025. As Sainz transitions from Ferrari to Williams, he is keen to contribute to the team’s efforts to regain its status as a competitive force in the sport.

Despite not having raced alongside Albon before, Sainz has sought insights from former teammates of Albon, including Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, and George Russell, all of whom regard Albon as an underestimated talent. Sainz emphasized the importance of collaboration and mutual support between the two drivers, suggesting that their combined strengths could be pivotal in improving Williams’ performance.

Sainz has a high regard for Albon, not just as a skilled driver but also as a commendable individual. He described their potential partnership as a “good cocktail” of talent and personality, which he believes is essential for Williams as they strive to enhance their competitiveness. Sainz remarked, “What Williams needs right now is two guys like Alex and me pushing flat out to make that process and journey as short as possible, to bring Williams back to where they deserve to be.”

Responding to Vowles’ confidence in their driver pairing, Sainz acknowledged the strength of other top teams, particularly the combination of Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, but he remains optimistic about their capabilities.
