Ricciardo was replaced by young talent Liam Lawson, who is viewed as a potential future teammate for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. The sudden departure has left Ricciardo at a crossroads, with no immediate F1 offers on the table.

Despite the setback, it didn’t take long for Ricciardo to receive his first job offer. Red Bull team boss Christian Horner revealed on the F1 Nation podcast that the team has extended an invitation for Ricciardo to remain in an ambassadorial role. “We’ve made it very clear that we want him to stay connected to the team in some capacity,” Horner said. However, it’s uncertain whether Ricciardo is interested, as the 35-year-old driver has previously expressed a desire to move away from the test and reserve driver role he took on after leaving McLaren at the end of the 2022 season.

Now, Ricciardo is also being courted by a prestigious racing series in his home country. The Australian V8 Supercars championship has shown strong interest in bringing Ricciardo on board for a full-time role. Supercars chief executive Shane Howard, in an interview with News Corp, said that the series would welcome Ricciardo “with open arms.” Howard continued, “Would we like to see Daniel Ricciardo in a Supercar? Absolutely, 100 percent. Imagine him racing at a new street circuit in Perth or even at Bathurst—it would be something special.”

The Supercars championship, known for its intense touring car races, is home to some of the biggest names in Australian motorsport. Howard emphasized Ricciardo’s popularity and skill, calling him “an incredible driver and personality” who would make a big impact if he joined the series. Howard also hinted that Ricciardo’s management team, which includes Blake Friend, who once worked for Supercars, could help facilitate the transition if Ricciardo chooses to make the move.

The Supercars series, which features the prestigious Bathurst 1000 race, is regarded as one of the world’s top touring car competitions. Bathurst, in particular, is a legendary event in motorsport, and Howard speculated that Ricciardo’s participation would generate massive excitement among fans. “Imagine him racing at Bathurst, wow. That would be very cool indeed,” Howard said.

While Ricciardo’s presence would undoubtedly elevate the profile of the championship, success in Supercars is not guaranteed. Former champions Shane van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin, for example, transitioned from Supercars to other series like NASCAR and IndyCar with great success. However, Ricciardo would still face a learning curve, as adapting to touring cars can be challenging for drivers with Formula 1 backgrounds.
