F1 confirm brand NEW deal ahead of 2025 season
Formula 1 has announced a new agreement to keep the Chinese Grand Prix on the calendar until 2030.
This comes as the sport prepares for some changes in the coming years, including the departure of the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort after 2026, despite its popularity driven by local hero Max Verstappen.
Zandvoort will host races in 2025 and 2026 before exiting the schedule.
Meanwhile, the Chinese GP, which first joined the F1 calendar in 2004, has secured its future with a five-year extension.
The Shanghai International Circuit made its return to the calendar this year following a five-year absence caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Max Verstappen, a four-time world champion, claimed victory in the race upon its return.
F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali highlighted the importance of the Chinese Grand Prix, describing the 2023 race as a major moment for the sport.
He praised the growing support for Formula 1 in China and the Shanghai track’s challenging nature, which provides a thrilling test for drivers.
Domenicali also expressed excitement about continuing the partnership with the Chinese GP’s promoters and looked forward to returning to Shanghai in the upcoming season.
The announcement reinforces Formula 1’s commitment to expanding its global footprint and engaging with its growing fanbase in China, ensuring that the Shanghai race remains a key feature on the calendar for years to come.
