F1 legend Brundle shares EMOTIONAL goodbye message
Formula 1 legend Martin Brundle has shared an emotional message on social media following the announcement that former F1 champion Damon Hill will be stepping down from his role as a pundit for Sky Sports F1 after 13 years.
Brundle, a celebrated figure in the F1 community, competed in the sport during the 1980s and 1990s, driving for iconic teams such as Williams, Benetton, and McLaren.
Although he earned nine podium finishes during his racing career, Brundle is perhaps best known today as a commentator and pundit.
His voice and insights have become synonymous with Formula 1 coverage, offering analysis and entertainment to fans worldwide.
One of Brundle’s most beloved contributions to F1 broadcasting is his grid walk segment, where he interviews drivers and occasionally surprises celebrities moments before a race begins.
While the segment has delivered both memorable and unpredictable moments, it has solidified Brundle’s place as a fan favorite.
Damon Hill, who joined Sky Sports’ F1 coverage in 2012, has been a key figure alongside Brundle, as well as other F1 champions like Nico Rosberg and Jenson Button.
Hill announced his departure through a heartfelt social media post, signaling the end of his decade-long tenure with the broadcaster.
Reacting to Hill’s announcement, Brundle expressed his gratitude and admiration for his former colleague, highlighting their long-standing friendship.
“Damon, I’ve had the pleasure and privilege of both racing against you and commentating on you in F1, working alongside you on SkyF1, and decades of friendship.
It’s been a blast, with much more to come. MB,” Brundle wrote in a touching tribute.
Sky Sports also issued a statement praising Hill’s contributions to their coverage, celebrating his insight and expertise that enriched their broadcasts over the years.
Fans and colleagues alike have shared their appreciation for Hill’s work and the unique perspective he brought to the commentary team.
In response to the messages of support, Hill expressed his gratitude, writing: “Thanks @SkySportsF1 And adieu. It’s been a long and bumpy ride. I’m not the same man that got on the bus all them years ago. I will not forget what you have done for me.
Merci. (Don’t know why I’m suddenly talking French🤔🤷🏻♂️).”
As Sky Sports gears up for its coverage of the highly anticipated Las Vegas Grand Prix on November 22, fans are preparing to bid farewell to Hill’s contributions while looking forward to the continuation of Brundle’s signature coverage.
