F1 Monaco Grand Prix qualifying DELAYED after shock …read more
The 2025 Monaco Grand Prix qualifying session experienced a brief delay due to a red flag incident involving Mercedes rookie Kimi Antonelli. During Q1, Antonelli clipped the barriers at the Nouvelle Chicane, bringing out the red flag and halting the session for approximately five minutes as marshals cleared his car from the track.
Earlier in the day, Lewis Hamilton crashed his Ferrari during the final practice session (FP3), damaging the right side of his car and bringing out a red flag. Despite the setback, Hamilton managed to participate in qualifying and secured a spot in the top 10.
Charles Leclerc continued his strong performance by topping all three practice sessions, positioning himself as a favourite for pole position. Max Verstappen of Red Bull and McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri also showed competitive pace, setting the stage for an exciting qualifying session.
The FIA issued a 10-place grid penalty to Haas driver Ollie Bearman for overtaking Carlos Sainz under red flag conditions during Friday’s practice session. The stewards determined that Bearman failed to slow down sufficiently, as required by the regulations.
The Monaco Grand Prix is scheduled to start at 2:00 PM local time on Sunday, May 25. With overtaking notoriously difficult on the narrow street circuit, qualifying positions will be crucial for race day success.
