The judges noted that Verstappen faced challenges at the start of the Qatar race weekend, struggling with an ill-handling vehicle and securing only a sixth-place finish during Sprint Qualifying. However, he and his Red Bull team made significant improvements after the short sprint race, implementing effective adjustments to the car’s setup. This transformation allowed him to dominate the main qualifying session, where he surged to the top position.

Verstappen’s journey continued with a slight setback as he was forced to start from second place due to a penalty incurred for obstructing George Russell at the conclusion of Q3.
