BREAKING: Ferrari Boss Fred Vasseur WARNS of Possible Future D…read more
Ferrari Formula 1 team principal Fred Vasseur has admitted that the team could face additional disqualifications this season as they continue to push the limits of performance. In an interview with L’Equipe, Vasseur highlighted how the competitive nature of F1 in 2025 is forcing teams to operate on the edge of regulations, making rule breaches more likely.
His remarks follow Ferrari’s double disqualification at the Chinese Grand Prix, where both Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were stripped of their fifth and sixth-place finishes. Hamilton’s car was found to have excessive skid block wear, while Leclerc’s was underweight after FIA inspections.
Navigating the Fine Line Between Performance and Regulations
When asked if Ferrari could face further disqualifications this year, Vasseur was direct in his response.
“Yes, absolutely,” he stated. “There is a difference between taking risks and breaking the rules. The nature of F1 is to push every boundary to the last gram of weight, the smallest margin of skid block wear, and the tiniest degree of wing deformation.”
Vasseur pointed out that in previous seasons, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen had a comfortable advantage, allowing him to stay well within technical limits. However, as the competition has intensified, all teams including Red Bull must now maximize every aspect of performance, increasing the chances of regulatory infractions.
“Verstappen, a year and a half ago, could run at 1:28.1 and still secure pole by half a second,” Vasseur explained. “Now, the fight is much closer, and everyone is pushing harder. This leads to more mistakes and occasional rule breaches.”
Hamilton’s Difficult Start with Ferrari
Hamilton’s Shanghai disqualification has added to his early struggles with Ferrari. Although his sprint race win in China provided a boost, he has only managed to score one point from two full-length races. Ferrari currently sits fifth in the Constructors’ Championship with just 17 points, trailing McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull.
Hamilton was brought in to help Ferrari reclaim championship glory and chase his record-breaking eighth world title. However, with early setbacks and stiff competition, both he and Ferrari face a challenging road ahead if they aim to contend for the 2025 title.
