Fred Vasseur Praises Lewis Hamilton’s Determination After Chinese Grand Prix Victory

Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has lauded the efforts of Lewis Hamilton following his remarkable victory at the Chinese Grand Prix. Hamilton’s win, his first at the Shanghai International Circuit since 2017, was a significant boost for the British driver, who continues to demonstrate his drive and skill in the 2025 Formula 1 season.

The win came after a hard-fought battle with Max Verstappen, with Hamilton showing his trademark determination and racecraft to seize victory in a dramatic race. Vasseur, while acknowledging the competition from his Ferrari drivers, was quick to give credit to Hamilton for his perseverance and strategic brilliance.

A Thrilling Race in Shanghai

The Chinese Grand Prix, often known for producing thrilling races, lived up to its reputation in 2025. The race saw numerous battles up and down the grid, with many eyes on the fight between Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes.

Starting from the second row, Hamilton immediately made his presence felt, taking advantage of the chaotic opening laps to position himself behind race leader Verstappen. The race was marked by multiple safety car periods, which kept the field tightly bunched and allowed for plenty of overtaking opportunities.

Hamilton, however, showcased his experience and calm under pressure, timing his pit stops perfectly and managing his tires better than his rivals. As the race entered its closing stages, he closed in on Verstappen, eventually overtaking the Red Bull driver after an intense battle.

His move to take the lead with just a few laps remaining was met with applause from the paddock, with many praising Hamilton’s ability to deliver when it mattered most. The victory also reignited discussions about Hamilton’s potential title challenge this season.

Fred Vasseur’s Praise for Hamilton

Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur, who watched his drivers battle valiantly in the midfield, was full of admiration for Hamilton’s performance. Speaking after the race, Vasseur was gracious in defeat, praising the seven-time world champion’s relentless pursuit of victory.

“Lewis drove an outstanding race today,” Vasseur said. “He showed why he’s considered one of the greatest in the sport. The way he managed his race and his ability to capitalize on every opportunity was impressive.”

Vasseur acknowledged the strength of Ferrari’s strategy but admitted that they couldn’t match Hamilton’s pace in the latter stages of the race. “We had a solid plan, but in the end, Lewis’s ability to manage his tires and make that crucial pass on Verstappen was what made the difference.”

While Ferrari struggled to match Mercedes and Red Bull at the front, Vasseur remained optimistic about their future performances. He expressed confidence in the team’s ongoing development and reiterated their commitment to competing for victories in upcoming races.

Hamilton’s Thoughts on the Win

For Hamilton, the win in Shanghai was a crucial one as he aims to secure his eighth World Championship. After the race, he reflected on the challenges of the day and the satisfaction of taking home another victory at one of his favorite circuits.

“It feels incredible to win here again,” Hamilton said. “The race was really tough, and Max put up a great fight, but I’m really happy with how we managed everything. The team did an amazing job with the strategy, and the car felt fantastic.”

Hamilton also took the opportunity to thank his fans for their unwavering support, noting the incredible atmosphere in Shanghai. “The crowd here is always amazing, and I could really feel the energy from the fans. It’s a special feeling to win in front of them.”

Looking Ahead

With his victory in China, Hamilton has once again demonstrated that he remains a formidable force in Formula 1. The win has put him firmly in the title fight, and with many races still to come, fans are eager to see how the championship battle unfolds.

Ferrari, meanwhile, will look to regroup and improve their performance as the season progresses. While Vasseur was full of praise for Hamilton’s win, he remains determined to bring Ferrari back to the front of the grid and compete for victories.
