BREAKING: Ferrari Boss Vasseur Responds to Red Bull’s C…read more
Ferrari’s Formula 1 team principal, Fred Vasseur, has addressed Red Bull’s recent driver switch, which saw Yuki Tsunoda replace Liam Lawson after just two races. His comments came before the official confirmation of the change, highlighting the difficulty of judging decisions made within other teams.
Lawson, who joined Red Bull at the start of the 2025 season, has been demoted back to Racing Bulls following point-less finishes in Australia and China. The 23-year-old also failed to progress beyond Q1 in both qualifying sessions, leading to speculation that his brief tenure with the senior team had come to an end.
Vasseur Stays Neutral on Red Bull’s Decision
When asked by L’Equipe whether Red Bull had acted too quickly in dropping Lawson, Vasseur chose not to criticize the move. Instead, he acknowledged the complexity of internal team decisions.
“Those are Red Bull stories,” Vasseur stated. “It’s difficult to judge what’s happening inside a team. We don’t know the reasoning behind the decision there are countless factors involved that only the team and the driver understand. Sometimes, even the driver isn’t fully aware.”
He added, “It may seem harsh after just two races, but we only see a fraction of the picture. I don’t like when others judge what we do at Ferrari, so I won’t do the same to Red Bull.”
Tsunoda Faces High Expectations at Red Bull
Following his demotion, Lawson shared an emotional message on social media, expressing disappointment but also gratitude for the opportunity Red Bull had given him. Meanwhile, Tsunoda will step into the Red Bull seat at his home race in Japan, hoping to deliver a strong performance.
Despite the mounting pressure of competing alongside Max Verstappen, Tsunoda appears to have a longer adjustment period than Lawson. According to reports, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has granted him until the end of the season to prove himself a timeline Lawson wasn’t afforded.
