Daniil Kvyat Warns Ferrari: Major Overhaul Looming if 2026 Fails to Deliver

Former Red Bull Formula 1 driver Daniil Kvyat has sounded a stark warning for Ferrari as the countdown to the 2026 regulation overhaul continues. Speaking on the F1 Nation podcast, Kvyat cautioned that the iconic Italian team may face significant internal restructuring if they fail to capitalize on the upcoming rule changes.

Ferrari’s 2025 campaign has been underwhelming, with the team languishing in fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship behind Red Bull, Mercedes, and McLaren. Kvyat believes the pressure is building for the Scuderia to deliver, especially with the introduction of sweeping new regulations in 2026 that could reset the competitive balance in Formula 1.

“It’s a huge brand, not just in Italy but globally,” said Kvyat. “They have a massive following, and with that comes massive expectations. In 2026, we’ll see the true fruits of the work they’ve been putting in. If things don’t go well, I think we’ll see some changes.”

Those changes, Kvyat hinted, could extend beyond technical departments. He suggested that team principal Fred Vasseur’s position could come under scrutiny if Ferrari fails to produce a front-running car. Vasseur, who took the reins in 2023, has already faced criticism during his tenure, with many viewing 2026 as a make-or-break season for his leadership.

Kvyat drew a contrast between Ferrari and Red Bull Racing, noting a stark difference in organizational culture. “Red Bull came into the sport with a different energy. They said, ‘Let’s enjoy this and try to win,’ and they’ve done that with several Constructors’ Championships,” he explained. “Ferrari has a different kind of pressure, different expectations, and a different culture. There’s politics involved, and when the results aren’t there, people start asking tough questions.”

Ferrari’s last championship win came in 2008, and the drought has only intensified calls for change within Maranello. With the 2026 regulation reset promising new power unit and aerodynamic rules, many see this as Ferrari’s best chance to return to championship contention.

Kvyat’s comments reinforce the notion that technical development alone won’t be enough. Organizational stability, unity, and clarity of purpose will be key if Ferrari hopes to end its long title drought. The 2026 season could well define the next era of the team’s storied history—and determine the futures of those leading it.
