Ferrari Fans Spark Controversy as Charles Leclerc Attends Brother’s Wedding with Alexandra Saint Mleux

Ferrari’s Formula 1 star Charles Leclerc found himself at the center of unexpected chaos during what was meant to be a rare private family celebration. The 26-year-old driver, who had just finished fourth at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, traveled to southern Italy for his brother’s wedding — only to be overwhelmed by fans who turned the occasion into an impromptu autograph session.

The Monegasque racer was attending the wedding of his elder brother, Lorenzo Tolotta-Leclerc, who tied the knot with Charlotte Di Pietro in a religious ceremony at the Basilica of Santa Croce in Lecce, the historic heart of the Salento capital. The couple had already held their civil ceremony earlier in June in Monaco, but this weekend was the grand church celebration, drawing close friends, family, and notable guests.

What should have been an intimate family gathering quickly drew outside attention after details about the event reportedly leaked to the press. Word spread quickly among Ferrari’s devoted supporters, and large crowds descended upon the venue, hoping to catch a glimpse of their racing hero.

Instead of respecting the private nature of the occasion, many fans brought Ferrari merchandise and demanded autographs. Videos circulating on social media showed Leclerc, dressed smartly alongside his partner Alexandra Saint Mleux, trying to enjoy the moment but instead being swarmed by supporters eager for signatures and photos. In one clip, Leclerc could even be seen motioning to the crowd, asking them to calm down as their cheers and chanting disrupted the proceedings.

The situation drew widespread criticism online. While some fans defended the enthusiasm of the tifosi — Ferrari’s famously passionate supporters — many others condemned the intrusion. Social media users argued that such behavior crossed the line between admiration and invasion of privacy.

One comment that went viral expressed outrage: “Just saw what happened at Lorenzo’s wedding and I’m speechless. Tifosi are simply insane about Charles Leclerc. This is not okay — how can anyone think it’s acceptable to show up at a wedding? You’re trespassing on one of the most important moments of someone’s life.”

Another user highlighted the disrespect shown toward both Lorenzo and his bride: “He can’t even enjoy his brother’s wedding in peace? This was supposed to be about Lorenzo and Charlotte, not Charles.”

Others pointed out the stress such disruptions cause. “Weddings are already overwhelming to plan, and the day should belong only to the couple and their loved ones. To see fans crowding outside, filming, and shoving things in front of Charles to sign is beyond disrespectful,” wrote one critic on X. Another added: “This wasn’t the paddock at a Grand Prix, nor a random encounter on the street. People deliberately went to the location after the address was leaked. That’s crossing a major boundary.”

Despite the uncomfortable circumstances, witnesses noted that Leclerc remained gracious, signing items for fans even while trying to protect the dignity of his brother’s big day. This gesture highlighted the driver’s kind nature but also fueled debate about the need for fans to respect boundaries between professional life and personal moments.

What was meant to be a joyous family occasion ultimately became a reminder of the downsides of fame. For Leclerc, admired worldwide not only for his skill behind the wheel but also for his humility, the incident underlined the challenges of balancing public adoration with private family life.
