Ferrari Slammed by Jolyon Palmer Amid Disappointing Start to F1 Season

Ferrari has come under fire from former Formula 1 driver Jolyon Palmer following a lackluster start to the 2025 season. Despite the high-profile addition of seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton, the team has managed just one podium finish in the opening six races  a third place for Charles Leclerc in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking to F1.com, Palmer didn’t hold back in his criticism, labeling Ferrari as the biggest letdown of the season so far.

“Ferrari has been the most disappointing team so far, especially after ending 2024 on such a strong note,” Palmer said.
“With Hamilton joining the team, this was meant to be a standout year for them. We caught a glimpse of potential in China, where Lewis looked comfortable and won the sprint, but overall, the performance just hasn’t been there.”

Hamilton’s move to the legendary Italian team was expected to mark a fresh chapter in his career, but the transition has been anything but smooth. Aside from the Shanghai sprint win, the British driver has struggled to find form, often trailing behind his teammate.

Palmer pointed to lingering issues that have followed Hamilton from his Mercedes days.

“He’s still battling the same problems mainly rear instability  that plagued him at Mercedes,” he explained.
“Lewis prefers to carry high speed into corners, but to do that effectively he needs a planted rear end, and that hasn’t been the case at Ferrari either.”

In addition to on-track challenges, Hamilton is still adapting to his new working environment and building a rapport with race engineer Riccardo Adami something Palmer sees as a work in progress.

“He’s still trying to get into rhythm with Adami, and that process is clearly taking longer than expected,” Palmer added.
“These are growing pains neither the team nor Hamilton likely anticipated would persist this far into the season.”

With the European stretch of the season approaching, the pressure is on Ferrari to deliver results and validate the hype surrounding their new driver lineup.
