Ferrari Provide Health Update on Charles Leclerc Following Imola Absence
Ferrari have issued a health update on Charles Leclerc after the Formula 1 driver missed Thursday’s media duties ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola.
The Monegasque was due to appear at the track today as part of his race weekend schedule, but the team has confirmed that he is unwell and will be resting instead.
“Charles is feeling unwell and will not be coming to the track today,” a Ferrari statement read. “He will rest and focus on recovering, and we expect him to be back in the car tomorrow.”
Leclerc, 27, entered the 2025 season with high hopes of contending for the world title, but things have not gone to plan so far. He currently sits fifth in the drivers’ standings, trailing championship leader Oscar Piastri by 78 points after six races.
Nevertheless, Leclerc has been the stronger performer within the Ferrari camp, regularly outpacing teammate Lewis Hamilton. The seven-time world champion has faced a tough start to life at Ferrari following his switch from Mercedes, recording just one top-five finish this season and appearing increasingly frustrated with his performance.
This weekend’s race at Imola presents a key opportunity for both drivers to turn their fortunes around in front of Ferrari’s passionate home crowd.
