Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc recently voiced his frustration over comments circulating about his relationship with teammate Carlos Sainz following the Mexican Grand Prix. The two Ferrari drivers were both aiming for strong finishes, with Sainz eventually taking victory while Leclerc ended in third place. However, tension seemed to arise during the race when Leclerc was closely trailing Sainz, aiming to overtake him. At that moment, Sainz requested that the Ferrari team instruct Leclerc to back off, expressing concern that his tires were taking too much strain out front.

The race dynamic became further complicated as McLaren’s Lando Norris was rapidly catching up. Eventually, Norris managed to overtake Leclerc, adding a layer of disappointment to Leclerc’s race, despite his podium finish. After the checkered flag, a post-race scene captured by cameras added fuel to the fire, with footage showing Leclerc appearing to brush past Sainz, seemingly ignoring his teammate. This moment quickly went viral on social media, sparking widespread speculation among fans about possible tension between Leclerc and Sainz. Many viewers took this moment as a sign of discord between the two drivers, furthering the narrative of an uneasy partnership.

When questioned about the rumors by former F1 driver Timo Glock during the Brazilian Grand Prix, Leclerc did not hold back in expressing his irritation with the assumptions being made. Leclerc made it clear that he was upset by how fans and media had interpreted the brief clip, emphasizing that he felt the situation was being unfairly dramatized. “I’m very happy you brought it up,” Leclerc told Glock in his interview with Sky Germany. “Because I am very angry with what I’ve seen everywhere.” Leclerc went on to explain that he hadn’t been aware of Sainz’s radio message during the race asking him to hold back, adding that any perceived animosity between them was based on a misunderstanding. “People judge on two seconds of what I’m saying,” Leclerc noted, clarifying that he had actually spoken with Sainz before any tension could have arisen.

According to Leclerc, his interaction with Sainz was completely amicable, and he addressed his disappointment with how quickly fans were willing to label their relationship as tense. He underscored that the brief video clip didn’t accurately represent the overall relationship and communication he shares with Sainz. By addressing this on a public platform, Leclerc hoped to dispel the rumors and reaffirm that there was no ill will between him and his teammate.
