Ferrari Unveils Name of Lewis Hamilton’s First F1 Car for 2025 Season

Ferrari has officially announced the name of their 2025 Formula 1 challenger, confirming that the car Lewis Hamilton will drive in his debut season with the team will be called the SF-25 The revelation, made through Ferrari’s social media channels, continues the Scuderia’s tradition of naming their cars with the ‘SF’ (Scuderia Ferrari) prefix, followed by the year of competition.

The SF-25 follows the naming pattern set in recent seasons, succeeding the SF-24 from 2024 and the SF-23 before it. While the name itself adheres to Ferrari’s structured approach, the real focus is on whether this car will provide Hamilton and teammate Charles Leclerc with the performance needed to challenge for victories and championships.

Hamilton’s First Ferrari; A New Era Begins

Hamilton’s move to Ferrari for the 2025 season marks one of the biggest driver transfers in F1 history. After spending 11 years with Mercedes and securing six of his seven world championships with the Silver Arrows, the British driver will now aim to add to his legacy in the iconic red of Ferrari.

The unveiling of the SF-25’s name adds another layer of anticipation ahead of the official car launch, where Ferrari will reveal the design and technical specifications of the machine. While the team has made progress in recent seasons, they have struggled to consistently challenge Red Bull for the championship. Hamilton’s arrival signals Ferrari’s intent to return to the top, but the success of this move will largely depend on whether the SF-25 is competitive from the outset.

Ferrari has shown flashes of competitiveness in recent seasons but has fallen short of delivering a sustained championship challenge. The SF-24 driven by Leclerc and Carlos Sainz in 2024, demonstrated strong qualifying speed but lacked the race-day consistency needed to match Red Bull. The team will be hoping that the SF-25 brings significant improvements in areas such as tire management, aerodynamics, and power unit performance.

With Hamilton joining forces with Leclerc, Ferrari now boasts one of the strongest driver lineups on the grid. The combination of Hamilton’s experience and racecraft, alongside Leclerc’s raw speed and familiarity with the team, could be the key to Ferrari mounting a serious title bid. However, the true potential of the SF-25 will only become clear once pre-season testing begins.

Ferrari’s last drivers’ championship came in 2007 with Kimi Räikkönen, while their last constructors’ title was in 2008. Since then, the team has faced a series of near-misses and inconsistent seasons, despite having strong drivers such as Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, and now Leclerc.

Hamilton’s arrival has raised hopes that the Scuderia could finally return to title-winning ways, but much will depend on the development of the **SF-25**. If the car proves to be a genuine frontrunner, Hamilton could find himself in contention for a record-breaking eighth world championship in his first year with Ferrari.

With the countdown to the 2025 season underway, all eyes are now on Ferrari’s next steps. The official unveiling of the SF-25, followed by its performance in pre-season testing, will provide the first clues as to whether Hamilton’s Ferrari dream can become a reality.
