FIA Announces Lewis Hamilton Penalty Decision After Miami Grand Prix Br…read more.

The FIA has officially delivered its verdict regarding Lewis Hamilton’s incident during the Miami Grand Prix, bringing clarity after hours of post-race speculation. The seven-time world champion was under investigation following a controversial on-track maneuver that raised eyebrows among fans, commentators, and rival teams alike.

According to the FIA statement released late Sunday, Hamilton has been handed a **five-second time penalty** for causing a collision with McLaren’s Lando Norris during the closing laps of the race. The stewards determined that Hamilton was “predominantly at fault” after reviewing race footage, telemetry data, and team radio communications.

The penalty drops Hamilton from **fifth to seventh place** in the final race classification, costing him valuable championship points in what is shaping up to be a tight battle this season. Mercedes has confirmed that they will not appeal the decision, with Team Principal Toto Wolff stating, “While we’re disappointed, we respect the stewards’ ruling and will focus on bouncing back stronger at the next round.”

Hamilton himself addressed the penalty in a post-race interview, acknowledging the incident but expressing frustration: “It was a tough fight out there. I didn’t see Lando coming up the inside, but I’ll take responsibility and move on. There’s still a long season ahead.”

The Miami Grand Prix, won by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, has added fresh intensity to the 2025 Formula 1 championship, with Hamilton now under even more pressure to deliver results as Ferrari’s new lead driver. The next race in Imola promises further drama as the title fight heats up.
