Russell’s Strong Start Continues While FIA Summons Routine Car Checks Before Weekend Action

George Russell has been enjoying a consistent and impressive start to the 2025 Formula 1 season, claiming four podium finishes in the first six full-length Grands Prix. The Mercedes driver currently holds fourth place in the Drivers’ Championship standings, underlining his competitive form and ability to consistently fight near the front of the pack.

Russell’s performances have been a bright spot for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team as they work to regain their dominance in the sport. His steady points haul and podiums have kept him firmly in contention and shown that he is capable of leading the team through a period of transition. With each passing race, he is proving to be a reliable and talented driver who can maximize the car’s potential even when outright victories remain out of reach.

Meanwhile, young rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli has been making waves in his debut season on the Formula 1 grid. Despite being new to the championship, the Italian driver is already outperforming expectations. Impressively, he currently sits ahead of seven-time world champion and Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton in the standings. Antonelli’s pace and composure have caught the attention of fans and analysts alike, with many already predicting a bright future for the teenager in the sport.

As the teams prepare for another race weekend, the FIA has summoned car number 63—Russell’s Mercedes—for a technical inspection. However, it’s important to note that this is part of a standard pre-weekend procedure. A technical delegate from the FIA will be present to oversee the presentation and ensure that everything is in line with regulations. There is no indication of any wrongdoing, and neither Russell nor the Mercedes team are under investigation. This type of check is a routine measure implemented regularly throughout the season to maintain the integrity of the sport and ensure all competitors are following the technical rulebook.

The same standard process is being applied to other drivers as well, including Esteban Ocon of Alpine and Lance Stroll of Aston Martin. Both of their cars have also been summoned for technical checks ahead of the weekend’s sessions. Again, these are not disciplinary or investigative actions but rather part of the FIA’s strict monitoring system.

As the race weekend kicks off, the focus shifts to on-track action, with the first two practice sessions scheduled for Friday. These sessions will allow teams to gather data, test new setups, and evaluate tire strategies in preparation for qualifying and the Grand Prix. With Russell in top form and rookies like Antonelli challenging the status quo, fans can expect a competitive and engaging weekend of racing.
