FIA Issues Official Statement on Verstappen Disqualification Following P…read more
The FIA has officially released a statement confirming the disqualification of Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen following a thorough post-race investigation after the Monaco Grand Prix.
According to the statement, Verstappen’s car was found to be in breach of the technical regulations related to plank wear, a critical component used to monitor ride height compliance. FIA officials stated that the excessive wear discovered on the RB20’s skid block violated Article 3.5.9 of the 2025 Formula 1 Technical Regulations.
“During post-race scrutineering, it was observed that car No. 1 did not comply with the minimum thickness requirements for the wooden plank as stipulated in the regulations,” the statement read. “As a result, the stewards have determined that Max Verstappen is disqualified from the final classification of the 2025 Monaco Grand Prix.”
The ruling comes as a significant blow to both Verstappen and Red Bull, who had initially finished second in the race. With the disqualification, all drivers behind Verstappen will move up one position in the final standings, and the championship points will be adjusted accordingly.
Red Bull Racing has expressed disappointment with the decision but has indicated that it will not appeal the ruling. Team Principal Christian Horner stated, “While we respect the FIA’s process, we are naturally disappointed. It’s unfortunate, but we accept the stewards’ decision and will work internally to ensure such an issue does not arise again.”
This incident could have implications on the tightly contested championship battle, with Verstappen now losing valuable points in the standings.
Further updates will follow as the story develops.
