The FIA has officially confirmed the final standings of the 2025 Miami Grand Prix following a detailed review of several incidents and penalties issued after the race.
McLaren celebrated a dominant performance, with Oscar Piastri taking the win and teammate Lando Norris finishing second, marking a powerful one-two result. Mercedes’ George Russell secured third place, despite Red Bull filing a protest claiming he did not properly slow under yellow flags. However, after examining data and footage, the stewards rejected the protest and upheld Russell’s result.
Ferrari faced a difficult weekend, as Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton ended in seventh and eighth. Both drivers voiced their disappointment over a mid-race position swap strategy that ultimately failed to help them catch Russell.
Meanwhile, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who had started from pole, finished fourth after being overtaken by the McLaren duo. The race included several incidents that brought out virtual safety car periods, notably crashes involving Jack Doohan, Oliver Bearman, and Gabriel Bortoleto.
The FIA also confirmed several penalties, including a five-second time penalty for Carlos Sainz after causing a collision with Piastri, and a penalty for Yuki Tsunoda due to pit lane speeding.
With this latest victory, Piastri has extended his lead in the Drivers’ Championship standings, sitting at 131 points, ahead of both Norris and Verstappen as the F1 season intensifies.
