FIA Officially Confirms Lewis Hamilton’s Withdrawal from Spanish Grand Prix After Me…read more

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has officially confirmed that Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton will not participate in the upcoming Grand Prix. The decision follows medical assessments that raised concerns about his fitness to race, prompting a mutual agreement between the FIA and Ferrari for his temporary withdrawal.

Although the team has not disclosed the exact nature of Hamilton’s condition, sources indicate that the seven-time world champion is battling a mild illness that could affect his performance and safety over the race weekend. The 40-year-old British driver has shown remarkable form early in the 2025 season and remains a key contender in the title fight.

“Lewis’ health is our main priority,” a Ferrari spokesperson stated. “While it’s a difficult call, it’s ultimately the correct one. We have no doubt he’ll come back stronger and ready to compete very soon.”

Hamilton’s absence leaves a significant gap in Ferrari’s lineup. The team is expected to turn to their reserve driver—likely the experienced Antonio Giovinazzi—to step in for the weekend. Giovinazzi has been involved in the team’s testing and development programs and is well-acquainted with the current car and operational setup.

Fans had been eager to see Hamilton continue his impressive form this season, where he has consistently scored points and remained in contention at the front of the grid. His withdrawal could have a notable impact on Ferrari’s pursuit of the Constructors’ Championship, especially as they face fierce competition from Red Bull and Mercedes.

The FIA concluded its statement by wishing Lewis Hamilton a speedy recovery and assured fans that more information on his condition will be provided when available.
