In a surprising development ahead of the upcoming Formula 1 Grand Prix, the FIA has announced that Max Verstappen’s Red Bull car will undergo an official inspection. The decision, revealed late Thursday evening, comes amid growing speculation over the team’s latest technical upgrades introduced during recent races.
According to FIA officials, the inspection is part of routine checks aimed at ensuring all cars comply with the 2025 technical regulations. However, sources within the paddock suggest that rival teams may have raised informal concerns about Red Bull’s aerodynamic package, particularly after Verstappen’s dominant performances in recent weeks.
“The FIA conducts regular inspections to uphold fairness and compliance,” an FIA spokesperson stated. “This inspection is part of our standard procedures and should not be seen as targeting any specific team or driver.”
Red Bull Racing has responded calmly to the announcement. Team principal Christian Horner emphasized that the team is confident their car meets all regulations. “We welcome the FIA’s checks,” Horner told reporters. “Our engineering team works tirelessly to ensure we operate within the rules, and we have nothing to hide.”
Max Verstappen, the reigning world champion, shrugged off the news, saying his focus remains entirely on delivering results on track. “It’s normal for the FIA to check cars,” Verstappen said. “I’m here to race, and I trust my team.”
The inspection is scheduled before the weekend’s practice sessions, and all eyes will be on whether the FIA uncovers anything noteworthy.
