FIA Stewards Launch Formal Investigation into Lewis Hamilton After In…read more

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has officially confirmed the opening of an investigation into an on-track incident involving Lewis Hamilton. The inquiry, led by the FIA stewards, follows an alleged breach of racing protocol during the qualifying session of the Grand Prix weekend.

While the FIA has not yet released a detailed account of the incident, preliminary reports suggest that Hamilton may have impeded another driver — potentially affecting the outcome of the qualifying session. According to sources close to the matter, race control flagged the situation for further review after data and video footage indicated a possible violation of the Sporting Code.

Hamilton, currently competing with Scuderia Ferrari, is expected to appear before the stewards alongside key team representatives. The investigation will determine whether any disciplinary action, such as a grid penalty or fine, is warranted. The outcome could significantly influence Ferrari’s race strategy, especially given the competitive stakes at this stage of the championship.

In a brief statement, the FIA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining fairness and safety on the track:
“All incidents reported during official sessions are subject to thorough examination in accordance with the FIA International Sporting Code. No further comment will be made until the investigation is concluded.”

Ferrari has acknowledged the summons but declined to comment pending the results of the stewards’ review. Meanwhile, Hamilton has continued preparations for the race weekend but has not addressed the matter publicly.

Further updates will be provided once the FIA has concluded its assessment and released an official ruling.
