Hamilton explains his role in F1 film with Brad Pitt: ‘I call… Full story 👇

Lewis Hamilton recently shed light on his involvement in the upcoming Formula 1 film starring Brad Pitt. The seven-time World Champion, who is also listed as a producer of the movie, has played a significant role in ensuring that the film accurately represents the world of Formula 1.

Hamilton explained that his main contribution was to critique and refine the script to maintain the authenticity of the racing world. He worked closely with screenwriter Ehren Kruger, providing input on various aspects of the script that didn’t align with the reality of Formula 1. Hamilton described his process as “calling bulls**t” on elements that seemed unrealistic or misrepresented the sport. His goal was to ensure that the film captures the true essence of Formula 1, both in terms of technical accuracy and the overall portrayal of the sport.

One of the key areas Hamilton focused on was the depiction of racing scenarios. He was particularly concerned with ensuring that the technical jargon used by engineers and the sequences involving overtakes, pit stops, and strategies were portrayed accurately. He highlighted an example where a crash scene in the script was overly dramatized, showing a car flipping and continuing to race after landing on its wheels—something that doesn’t happen in Formula 1. By intervening in such cases, Hamilton aimed to maintain the film’s credibility and avoid sensationalized depictions of the sport.

Beyond the technical aspects, Hamilton was also involved in broader decisions about the film’s direction. He emphasized the importance of diversity in the casting and behind-the-scenes roles. For instance, he pushed for the inclusion of a female character in a pit stop scene, noting that this has never happened in real-life Formula 1. Hamilton’s influence extends across various facets of the film, ensuring that it not only reflects the reality of the sport but also represents a more inclusive vision of what Formula 1 could be.

The film, which is set to be released in June 2025, was officially titled ‘F1’ during the 2024 race weekend at Silverstone. Filming has been ongoing at different Grand Prix weekends over the past few months. Hamilton’s involvement as both a producer and consultant ensures that the film will offer a genuine and insightful portrayal of the high-stakes world of Formula 1 racing.
