Hamilton issues INCREDIBLE statement as major F1 change confirmed

Lewis Hamilton has praised Formula 1 for making a major step towards inclusion after the confirmation of a new Diversity and Inclusion charter, an initiative supported by all 10 F1 teams, F1, and the FIA.

This development follows recommendations from a report by the Hamilton Commission, which Hamilton founded in 2021 to address the lack of diversity in motorsport.

The announcement comes shortly after Hamilton’s stellar performance at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, where he climbed from a 10th-place start to finish second behind Mercedes teammate George Russell, who secured his second victory of the season.

Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc completed the podium, while Max Verstappen finished fifth, clinching his fourth consecutive world drivers’ title for Red Bull.

Hamilton, set to join Ferrari in 2025, remains focused on his future both on and off the track. The newly confirmed charter is a significant outcome of the Hamilton Commission’s work.

Created in partnership with the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Commission investigated barriers that have limited diversity in F1, producing a report that outlined key challenges for underrepresented groups in the sport.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the change, Hamilton stated: “I launched the Hamilton Commission to understand why there were so few people like me in F1. With the help of the Royal Academy of Engineering, we identified the barriers and outlined solutions. This charter is a direct result of that work.”

Hamilton emphasized the potential impact of this initiative, commending the collective commitment from F1, the FIA, and all teams.

“For everyone in the sport to recognize the need for diversity is an incredible sign of progress,” he said.“I’m excited to see and support the outcomes of this commitment.”

The charter marks a significant step in addressing the sport’s longstanding diversity issues and aims to make F1 more accessible and inclusive for individuals from all backgrounds.

Hamilton’s advocacy continues to push the boundaries of progress in the sport, reflecting his broader commitment to creating lasting change in motorsport.
