Hamilton’s Replacement Linked to Ferrari’s Future Plans as Ollie Bearman Emerges as a Star
Formula 1 is buzzing with discussions about Lewis Hamilton’s eventual successor, as the legendary driver begins his tenure at Ferrari. First glimpses of Hamilton in Ferrari’s iconic red emerged following his highly anticipated move to the Italian team in 2024. His switch triggered a series of driver reshuffles, leaving half the grid with new lineups for the 2025 season. Among these changes, Haas unveiled an entirely new pairing with Esteban Ocon and rising talent Ollie Bearman.
Bearman, who made his F1 debut in 2024 as a substitute for Carlos Sainz at Ferrari, turned heads with a strong P7 finish at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. This performance caught the attention of several teams, ultimately landing him a full-time seat at Haas for 2025. As Bearman embarks on his rookie season, Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu has expressed confidence in the young Brit’s potential, even hinting at a future return to Ferrari.
Komatsu outlined the team’s plan to develop Bearman over the next two seasons, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and growth. “The fact that we’ve got two solid years with Ollie, assuming nothing changes at Ferrari with Lewis and Charles, is a fantastic opportunity,” Komatsu stated, according to Reuters.
He acknowledged the possibility of Ferrari reclaiming Bearman for 2027 if the driver’s performance meets their expectations. “If we work together and make significant improvements, and by the end of ’26 Ferrari insists on having Ollie in their car, it would reflect well on our team. These two years with Ollie are crucial, and we’re determined to make it work,” he added.
With Hamilton now at Ferrari and Charles Leclerc as his teammate, the Scuderia’s lineup appears formidable. However, Komatsu’s remarks suggest that Ferrari is keeping an eye on Bearman as a potential successor for either Hamilton or Leclerc in the long term.
As the 2025 season approaches, Bearman’s journey will be closely watched, with his performance at Haas potentially shaping his F1 future. Should he excel, he may secure a coveted spot with Ferrari, solidifying his status as one of the sport’s brightest young talents. For now, Haas is focused on nurturing Bearman’s abilities, knowing they could play a vital role in his rise to prominence.
