Hamilton TALKS confirmed in shock signing plans away from Ferrari…read more

Lewis Hamilton is reportedly in discussions to make a significant move away from Formula 1, potentially investing in the MotoGP championship. The seven-time F1 world champion has been engaged in talks with KTM, an Austrian motorcycle brand, with the aim of becoming an investor in the team. This revelation comes from KTM’s motorsport boss, Pit Beirer, who confirmed the talks, despite the team’s recent financial struggles. KTM, which has been facing a severe financial crisis, is reportedly burdened with liabilities nearing three billion euros, putting the team’s future at risk.

Beirer has reassured fans and stakeholders that KTM will continue to compete in MotoGP in 2025, emphasizing that discussions with Hamilton are “concrete.” He mentioned that Hamilton has long been interested in MotoGP and is considering entering the sport with his own team. Beirer also noted that while Red Bull has been heavily involved with KTM since their entry into MotoGP in 2017, Hamilton’s potential involvement would not pose any issues, as he is seen as a partner, not a direct competitor to Red Bull.

The involvement of F1 figures in MotoGP is not entirely new. Red Bull, a major player in F1, has supported KTM since they entered the MotoGP scene, and this relationship has been a cornerstone of their success. Beirer stated that KTM’s partnership with Red Bull remains strong, and it’s unlikely that Hamilton’s interest in the team would interfere with this. He stressed that an investor, such as Hamilton, plays a different role compared to a sponsor. While sponsors provide financial backing, an investor like Hamilton would also become part of the strategic decision-making process, potentially bringing fresh ideas and solutions to the team’s challenges.

Beirer further explained that the involvement of strong partners, like Hamilton, could help KTM navigate through its financial difficulties. The presence of influential investors is seen as a positive factor, contributing not just financially, but also in terms of ideas and solutions for long-term success. Beirer remains optimistic about KTM’s future, insisting that the team is committed to racing in 2025 despite the current financial uncertainty.

Hamilton’s potential move into MotoGP could mark a new chapter in his motorsport career, diversifying his involvement beyond Formula 1, and it would be a significant shift given the challenges KTM is currently facing. This unexpected development is one to watch closely as it could reshape the landscape of both Formula 1 and MotoGP.
