Helmut Marko Reveals Details of Red Bull’s Emergency Meeting

Red Bull’s motorsport advisor, Helmut Marko, has shed light on the recent “emergency meeting” held by the team amid growing concerns over their performance and internal struggles.

Following a turbulent start to the 2025 Formula 1 season, Red Bull has faced increasing pressure as their dominance has come under threat from rivals McLaren and Ferrari. The team, which had been nearly untouchable in previous seasons, now finds itself struggling to maintain its lead in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.

Speaking to De Telegraaf, Marko confirmed that the high-level meeting was called to address various challenges, including car performance issues, strategic decisions, and recent internal tensions.

Red Bull’s Performance Concerns

One of the key topics discussed was the performance of the RB21, which has not met expectations. The car has shown weaknesses in certain race conditions, with drivers Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda struggling to extract consistent pace. Verstappen, in particular, has voiced his dissatisfaction with the car’s handling, fueling speculation about his long-term future with the team.

Driver Lineup and Team Dynamics

Another major issue discussed was the recent driver swap, which saw Tsunoda replace Liam Lawson alongside Verstappen. While Red Bull hoped this change would improve their competitiveness, the decision has been met with mixed reactions, including disagreement from Verstappen himself.

Despite the challenges, Marko remains optimistic about Red Bull’s ability to recover. “We know the areas we need to improve, and we are working hard to fix them,” he stated.

With Red Bull’s rivals gaining momentum, the coming races will be crucial in determining whether the team can regain control or if their dominance is truly at risk.
