Italian Fans Call for Lewis Hamilton’s Exit After Disappointing Spanish Grand Prix

Lewis Hamilton is facing mounting pressure from Ferrari’s passionate fanbase after a frustrating performance at the Spanish Grand Prix, where he finished a distant sixth. The result, well behind teammate Charles Leclerc who secured a podium, has sparked outrage among some Italian supporters, with social media flooded by calls for Ferrari to reconsider Hamilton’s position within the team.

Hamilton, who joined Ferrari amid massive hype and high expectations, openly described the race as “terrible” and expressed little confidence in the SF-25 car’s ability to improve. His blunt assessment — including the statement “I’m sure they won’t” when asked if Ferrari could turn things around — only added fuel to the fire.

In Italy, where Ferrari is more than just a racing team but a symbol of national pride, patience is wearing thin. Sections of the Tifosi have begun demanding drastic changes, including the controversial suggestion that Hamilton should be dropped if his performances don’t improve soon.

The criticism comes amid a broader slump in Hamilton’s season. With no podium finishes and a growing gap to Leclerc in the standings, some fans and pundits see the seven-time world champion’s presence as a distraction rather than a solution.

Despite the backlash, Ferrari team boss Frédéric Vasseur has stood by Hamilton, insisting the team is working through technical challenges and that both drivers remain vital to their plans. Hamilton himself remains defiant, stating he uses criticism as “fuel” and reaffirming his commitment to helping Ferrari climb back to the top.

However, with pressure intensifying and the season nearing its halfway mark, the honeymoon between Hamilton and Ferrari appears to be over — and the Italian faithful are demanding results.
